Please Explain?
Pauline Hanson today confirmed she will run in the up coming March 21 state election."I will be standing," Ms Hanson said, but where is anyone’s guess, "I'm sorry that I'm quite evasive about this at the moment, but there's a lot happening and I just can't say too much."
Rumour has it that details of her campaign should be revealed this coming Monday.
The Former fish and chip shop owner was famously dumped by the Liberal Party in 1996 after advocating for the abolition of welfare for Aborigines actually won the federal seat of Oxley, she went on to make one of the most "un PC" maiden speeches of all time. always worth a re-read it can be found here.
The thing about Pauline is she evokes opinions from everyone, love her or hate her you would be hard pushed to find an Australian who doesn’t have some kind of opinion about her. Where ever she goes there will be volcanic anger and religious devotion, lets hope she has a better speech writer this time round.

Election in the Air

Snap elections catch everyone by surprise, but this was the worst-kept secret in the State. After eight 'retirements' in as many days it seems, Anna finally called an election for the 21st March. Anna didn't come out with anything too earth shattering on the first day, perhaps she plans to start in Townsville this morning.
However the LNP's brightest member, Mayor Campbell Newman came up with the incredible answer for Brisbane City traffic woes - reduce the inner city speed limit to 40km/hour - now that will speed up the traffic flow no end????" I wonder whether the Borg is going to do this state-wide.
Let the games begin!

Waving babies
"The old days of the National party are certainly back with the release of the latest press release from Michael O'Dwyer, State Director of the LNP who is trying to get a petition up on the basis of "did you know that Labour is going to close the Royal Children's Hospital?"" It reminds me of the late 90's when the Labour Government wanted to relocate the Cairns Base Hospital but the Libs weren't at all keen on that so they got busy with misinformation - here we go again but this time it's the "Borg's" mouthpiece doing the work.

Get behind Pyne!

Thank goodness for Councilors such as Leu & Pyne and here Cr Rob Pyne goes again, sweeping into council chambers like common sense superman on wheels he has had the earth shattering idea of suggesting free green waste dumping and pick ups.... earth shattering common sense stuff, sadly like all things common sense and the Cairns Regional Council the idea will not see the light of day unless everyday people like you turn up in numbers at tomorrows Water and Waste meeting at council chambers around noon.
